To improve drying behavior, the CLUSTERJET printing system can apply an ink coating in multiple layers.

The process used to “decompose” the target density should not be confused with the multipassing process described elsewhere, but is similar to it.

The target density can be applied by multiple cooperating clusters.

Due to a special procedure, the expected time loss is relatively small despite the layer-by-layer ink application.
